Ian S. Zagon, PhD is Distinguished University Professor and Distinguished Educator at The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He has had 4 decades of funded research resulting in more than 350 peer-reviewed publications, multiple patents and start-up companies. A significant discovery was identifying the mechanism of low dose naltrexone (LDN), and its role in diseases including diabetes, cancer, and multiple sclerosis. He has received numerous awards including the Cheston Berlin Service Award, Society of Experimental Biology and Medicine Distinguished Scientist Award, 27 consecutive annual Distinguished Teaching Awards, and the 2015 Innovator of the Year Award from Penn State University.

Patricia J. McLaughlin, MS, DEd is tenured Professor at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and Director of the Anatomy Graduate Program. She has collaborated with Dr. Zagon on basic and translational research, and has published extensively on the role of the OGF-OGFr axis in the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of a wide variety of diseases. Dr. McLaughlin has received the College of Medicine Dean’s Lecturer Award, as well as the SEBM Distinguished Scientist Award. She has more than 15 patents on her work related to the OGF-OGFr axis, and is a co-founder, with Dr. Zagon, of ZoeGenics LLC.
