Janina E.E. Tirnitz-Parker, MSc, PhD, is a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. She currently serves as Director on the Board of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia. She is the lead investigator of an international collaborative research team looking at the role of various signaling pathways during hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma niche formation. Her research is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia. Dr. Tirnitz-Parker has published many articles in the leading journals in the field, including Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology and Gastroenterology. She heads an independent and vibrant group of scientists and visiting researchers and supervises many PhD as well as Master’s degree students. In addition, she coordinates the Master’s unit on Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at Curtin University. Dr. Tirnitz-Parker currently serves on the Editorial Board of several international scientific journals. As a passionate ambassador for liver and pancreatic cancer patients, she was selected to participate in the fourth cohort of Homeward Bound, an international leadership program for women in science, technology, engineering, maths, and medicine, culminating in an expedition to Antarctica in November 2019.
