Shashikant Lele, MD, is a Professor of Oncology, Chief of Gynecologic Oncology, and Clinical Chair of the Division of Surgical Subspecialties at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo, NY, USA. After completing MD degree at JJ Hospital-Grant Medical College, Mumbai, India, he undertook his Residency program at Mount Sinai Hospital, Cleveland, OH, USA. He is certified in Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His specialization is in cancers of the cervix, endometrium, ovary, uterus, vagina, and vulva with a special interest in Gynecologic Oncology group studies involving clinical and scientific research on ovarian cancer surgery and ovarian cancer chemotherapy. He has given many featured talks including “Women: Listen to Your Body”, an awareness video for women about gynecologic cancers to recognize warning signs so that preemptive approaches can be taken at any sign of irregularity. He has been involved in many clinical trials evaluating novel anticancer chemotherapy of gynecologic cancers. Professor Lele has extensively published in the field including articles in New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Genetics, JAMA Oncology and Journal of Gynecologic Oncology.
